  Our previous gardener was just like a lawn mower…difficult to get started, emitting foul smells, and not working half the time.

  But not him.

  CHAPTER 1

  Daisy

  S o I’ve got to warn you, he says to me,” she says.

  “This doesn’t sound good,” I say, pulling my face back like I’m entering a wind tunnel.

  “Girl, you have no idea!”

  I can’t help but laugh. My bestie, Dawna, has had me in stitches since we met in first grade.

  “So where was I? Oh yeah! So this sorry ass excuse for a man says,” Dawna pauses to raise her voice to imitate her date from last night. “It’s technically called a micropenis.”

  “Ouch!” I say.

  “Wrong! Not ouch, because let me tell you…when you see your first micropenis you know without a damn doubt in the world that that little sucker could not hurt a fly, let alone tear up my pussy like it needs tearing up!”

  I spit my Kool-Aid across the room, but Dawna’s expression hasn’t changed.

  “I sure don’t know about you, but when a man starts talking about economics or science, or whatever the hell a damn micropenis is, when he takes his clothes off, this girl is taking off herself! As in adios. Buh-bye. Do not pass go, and definitely do not collect any lovin’ from me. I do not get wet discussing interest rates or bond prices. Huh-uh! Hells to the no! And I sure as hell ain’t never fantasized about Alan Greenspan going down on me while I scream the current exchange rates of the Canadian loonie!”

  I am literally in tears.

  “But I can tell you what is loony, as a matter of fact, was me accepting a blind date with some prep school boy who has never lifted a finger in his life, let alone a damn barbell. Never making that mistake again.”

  “Dawna, you’ve got to write a book about all these whack ass guys you meet.”

  “Are you crazy? I don’t need to be writing any books. What I need to do is find a real man who knows how to eat pussy, and fuck me like his life depends on it…because if he ever wants to see me again it sure as hell does.”

  “Well where in Salt Creek are we going to find a guy like that?”

  Dawna’s mouth drops open and her hands follow suit, as the tray of brownies we just made falls from her hands and land on the linoleum. “Right…out…your…window… is where we’re going to find him. Who is that?”

  “You mean the guy my dad hired to, oh—” I say as I turn my head to look out the window.

  “Oh is right, as in that man needs to see my O face as soon as possible,” Dawna says.

  “My property, my man,” I say, pretending to push Dawna back away from the window.

  “Where are your binoculars, girl? I know your ex-Navy SEAL, Special Forces, Delta Force Daddy, Dark Ops, whatever in the hell he was all around badass military man dad has to have a pair around her somewhere?”

  “Dawna, you might need binoculars for your micropenis peeps, but I can assure you no binoculars are needed today.”

  Mystery man is on that small patch of concrete between our house and the wooden fence that separates our property from our neighbors. We’ve got a shower out there that my dad uses sometimes after he finishes doing lawn work, or after he’s all salty from surfing. Apparently our new gardener knows about the shower too because he’s out there whistling away scrubbing down in nothing more than his Calvin’s…which are actually Jockeys.

  He looks left and then right.

  “Duck down, girl! Don’t let him see us.”

  We pull our heads from the window before slowly bringing them back up to watch.

  “He thinks the coast is clear,” Dawna says.

  “It’s not like we’re going to attack him,” I say.

  “Speak for yourself!”

  I see Dawna’s eyes bulge and I look back out the window. He slides his thumbs into the sides of his underwear and d
rops them down to the ground, before stepping out with his right foot and then his left.

  “Turn, damnit. Turn!” Dawna says with gritted teeth.

  God must be a woman today, because right on cue he twists to scrub his…Oh. My. God. I don’t even know what you call one that big!

  “Would that be a…macropenis?” I say.

  “That would be the World Bank, and I sure as hell am lining up for a deposit.”

  “Don’t you mean a withdrawal?”

  “I mean whatever he wants to give me, I am more than happy to accept. High interest. Low interest. Puts. Calls. Leaps. I’ll take it all from that NASDAQ daddy.”

  “I’m not sure either one of us could take all of that.”

  “Speak for yourself. I’ll find a way or die trying.”

  “You better be prepared for the latter, because that thing is a deadly weapon no doubt.”

  “Who needs a ladder, when you can climb that rope!”

  “Speaking of rope, isn’t your little sis waiting on you to pick her up from that boot camp workout thing she started?”

  “Don’t try and distract me.” Dawna looks up at the clock. “Oh crap. You’re right! Where did the time go? And at the best possible moment too.”

  “Stay a little bit longer. Just text her.”

  “Daisy, she’s sixteen and she’s developing. I’m not leaving her standing out there alone at the beach in her sweaty workout gear.”

  “Ouch. You’re right.”

  “Ouch is right, for both of us.” Dawna grabs her keys and makes her way to the door. “I better hear stories about this tomorrow.”

  “Why tomorrow?”

  “Because you two better be going at it all night.”

  “I don’t even know who he is.”

  “Precisely. It will make it that much hotter,” Dawna says as she steps out the door. She sticks her head back in the small crease, just as the door is about to shut. “I’m serious Daisy. This guy just fell right into your lap…now go fall into his.” Dawna turns her neck sideways and raises her brows, letting me know she’s going to read me the riot act if I don’t make a move on this guy. “Dawna…out,” she says as the door closes.

  As one door closes another one opens, as I slide out the back door.

  CHAPTER 2

  Daisy

  I try and look through the cracks in-between the boards, but I can’t see anything. The latch is shut from the other side so there’s no way I can open it, even slightly just to sneak a peak. Only one solution.

  I walk as fast as I can down the alley behind our house. I don’t want to look like I’m running, but I sure am approaching jogging speed. I reach the end of the block, and turn. As soon as I hit the street out house is on I turn again. I’m in front of the corner of my neighbor’s house when I squat down low like I’m tying my shoe.

  I slowly start sliding my body forward, getting into position where I can see into that little area between the house and the fence. It’s midday and the neighborhood is empty, but I’m still not taking any chances.

  My feet are making noise as I slide them across the sidewalk. I pick them up and try to set them down softly. Between the fast walk and now this new creeping exercise I invented, I’m starting to breathe hard, but not as hard as I do the minute I see the first sign of his skin.

  I slide forward another few inches and duck down lower. I try and part the bushes with my hands but they’re too thick. Darn it!

  I look behind and to the side of me. Nobody. I lie down in a push-up position and pretend like I’m looking for something I dropped, just in case there is that one soul in the neighborhood who’s both home and looking out their window right now. I know everybody, and there’s no way there is anyone home, but there’s also no way I’m getting caught until…

  His head pokes forward as his eyes squint. Oh my, god. He’s looking right in my direction. I freeze, but it’s no use.

  He tips his head back in the way my dad does when he’s acknowledging something. He’s got that same cocky confidence of a military man, but the only war going on right now is between my head and my pants when I decide not to move.

  He extends his arm and motions me over with his finger. He can’t come and get me since he’s naked so my only option is just to play this out and when he gets dressed make a run for it.

  But I guess he can come to me. He takes a step forward, still concealed between the two houses. I can see everything, and he definitely has a lot to see.

  “Hey, you. Come over here,” he demands as my fingers demand to come up of this concrete and rap around those blue-collar bulging biceps of his.

  I’m still laying on my stomach, when I point to myself, as if to ask if he’s talking to me.

  “Only you and me out here, sweet cheeks.”

  Did he just call me sweet cheeks? I look over my shoulder and notice my butt is up a bit higher…okay a lot higher, but the curve is good and he’s seemed to notice.

  I push myself up off the concrete. My heart is beating even faster as I rise up and above the line of the bushes. He’s staring at me and I’m staring right back at him.

  He says nothing, because he doesn’t have to. His body does all the talking and it’s calling me like my ex-boyfriend who’s desperately trying to get back together after he “realized what he lost.” He’s history, and this guy is the future I tell myself as I walk along the bush line, leaving my eyes on him. But my future with him is up in the air because he looks more likely to bend me over his knee and spank me than thank me for admiring him.

  His eyes haven’t left mine as I step out of view in order to reach the opening between the bushes. I take a deep breath as I walk up the main pathway to our house before turning and walking along the freshly mown grass towards the side of the house.

  I’m counting down the moments until I see him again. Three…two…one.

  “Looking for something?” he says. His expression and posture haven’t changed an inch, not to mention there’s been no change in the amount of, or lack of, clothes he still has on.

  “I was just…”

  “Just what? Spying on me?”

  I don’t really have an answer as he did catch me red-handed. “I was out for a walk and I thought I might have dropped something. I bent down to check and there you were.”

  “Did you find it?”

  Oh, I found all of it. “What?” I say, then wince realizing my mind is totally focused on him and not on what he’s saying.

  “What you were looking for.”

  “Yeah. All straightened out. Thanks.” I realize I can’t just walk off now and go in the front door of my house or he’ll know I live here. I start to turn.

  “I don’t believe you.”

  My eyes lock back on his. “You what?” I say, trying my hardest not to look down, and barely succeeding.

  “I believe you that you found what you were looking for. But I don’t believe it’s all straightened out, because you didn’t get it…yet.”

  “Excuse me?” I say. I don’t like this guy talking to me this way, but I do like his absolutely unbreakable confidence. If only boys my age were so sure of themselves.

  “Come here,” he says.

  I take a step forward, not even thinking to question his words.

  “Closer.”

  I’m not going to let this guy tell me what to do.

  “Don’t make me come over there and grab you…and spank you for what you did.”

  “I didn’t do anything!” I say. “You’re the one out here with your wiener willowing in the wind! I’m just minding my own business.” My eyes slowly drift further south. I don’t care now. I’m taking him all in. Every last little, make that big, inch of him.

  He’s still wet from the shower. The water is coating his suntanned skin in small little droplets. His hair is dark and short and he’s sporting a manly five o’clock shadow. He has a Mediterranean look and I definitely want to swim in his seas. I could drown in those baby blues, which are so intense,
set off by his dark features.

  His sexy, more than a six-pack, abs have grown muscles of their own. His stomach muscles extend up, down, and even sideways until they reach that perfect V he’s sporting. God, how much I love that V shape, and those lines that the top of his pelvis bones form that leads right down to his…oh yeah.

  He’s not shaven, but he’s not sporting a forest down there either. He’s kept it masculine from head to toe, which is just what you’d expect if you examined one single inch of him, which is exactly what I’m doing right now. The mental ruler in my mind is ticking off the inches. I’m already to eight and I see he’s easily going for nine as his dick starts to…harden!
